The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) Records Management Committee met on Monday, October 11, 2010, at 2:00 p.m., at 1121 Briarcrest, Bryan, Texas.

Committee Chairman Freeman called the meeting to order at 2:08 p.m.
1. Review and comment on the staff proposal for the following local government records retention schedules: Records of Elections and Voter Registration (EL), Records of Public Health Agencies (HR), Records of Property Taxation (TX) and Records of Utility Services (UT).
Chairman Freeman took up the records retention schedule for Records of Elections and Voter Registration (EL) with changes preliminarily approved by the commission on August 6, 2007. After questions of staff and discussion of the schedule, Commissioner Holt moved to recommend approval to the commission with changes agreed on by the committee. Commissioner Waters seconded. Motion passed.
Chairman Freeman took up the records retention schedule for Records of Property Taxation (TX) including changes preliminarily approved by the commission on August 6, 2007. After discussion and questions of staff, Commissioner Holt moved to accept Records of Property Taxation (TX) pending inquiries to be made by staff and changes as directed by the committee. Commissioner Waters seconded. Motion passed.
After a brief break in the meeting, Chairman Freeman took up the records retention schedule for Records of Public Health Agencies (HR) with changes recommended by staff and commission members. After discussion, questions of staff and recommendations for changes, Commissioner Waters moved to accept with changes as directed by the committee. Commissioner Holt seconded. Motion passed.
Chairman Freeman then brought up the retention schedule for Records of Public Utility Services (UT) that included changes preliminarily approved by the commission on August 6, 2007. After discussion, Commissioner Holt moved to accept the schedule with the recommended changes pending an inquiry by staff into retention periods for some records held at another state agency. Commissioner Waters seconded. Motion passed.
2. Prepare recommendations to present to the full commission.
Chairman Freeman thanked the committee and staff for their participation and work and stated she will take the schedules approved by the committee to the full commission, Tuesday, October 12, 2010.
There being no further business before the committee, Chairman Freeman adjourned the meeting at 5:26 p.m.
