Texas State Library and Archives Commission Agenda

The Library and Archives Commission may deliberate on and/or take action on any of the following agenda items.

The commission may go into executive session on any agenda item, as authorized by the Open Meetings Act, Gov't Code Chapter 551.


  1. Approve minutes of June 5 and July 11, 2012 meetings of the Audit Committee and Commission.
  2. Introductions.
  3. Public Comment.
  4. General announcements and discussion of October commission meeting.
  5. Conflict of interest disclosure.
  6. Review of consent agenda: non-substantive corrections in other agenda items such as spelling, numbering, punctuation, grammar, or other revisions.
  7. Report of Audit Committee meeting:

    a. Review and approve the Desk Audit of Grants awarded in FY 2012
    b. Discussion of the risk assessment process for the FY 2013 Audit Plan.

  8. Approve contracts greater than $100,000.
  9. Presentation by the Honorable Jerry Patterson regarding loan of archival documents.
  10. Report of the Director and Librarian. May include information or updates on agency programs (Talking Book, Library Development & Networking, Information Resources Technologies, State & Local Records Management, Archives & Information Services, Administrative Services, Communi­cations Office, and Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center), key meetings and activities, Friends of Libraries and Archives of Texas, financial information, dashboard metrics, and the status of other new or ongoing issues.
  11. Approve appointments to TexShare Advisory Board.
  12. Approve appointments to Library Systems Act Advisory Board.
  13. Review recommendations for competitive library grants in State Fiscal Year 2013:

    a. Approve Special Projects Grants.
    b. Approve Cooperation Grants.
    c. Approve Texas Reads Grants.
    d. Approve TexTreasures Grants.
    e. Approve Impact Grants.
    f. Consider possible appeals of denial of grant funding.

  14. Approve Legislative Appropriations Request for FY 2014 – 2015.
  15. Discuss issues related to repairs and maintenance at the Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center.
  16. Executive session, as authorized by Texas Government Code §551.071 and §551.074, regarding consultations with attorney and personnel matters, respectively.
