Minutes

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission met on Thursday, February 20, 2020, in the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building, 1201 Brazos Street, Austin, Texas.

  1. Welcome, introductions, and general announcements.

    Chairman Wong called the meeting to order at 1:32 p.m. and noted that a quorum was present. Mark Smith informed the commission that each division director would present information on programs and opportunities for growth followed by presentations regarding the governor’s and legislature’s priorities.
  2. Staff presentations regarding anticipated future trends related to TSLAC services

    Jennifer Peters, Sarah Jacobson and Jelain Chubb presented information on their divisions and responded to questions. At 3:00 p.m., Chairman Wong recessed the meeting for a break. The meeting reconvened at 3:14 p.m. Commissioner Garza left the meeting during the break. Craig Kelso and Michael Ford presented information on their programs.

  3. Long-range planning session to discuss strategic initiatives and directions, including preparations for the Agency Strategic Plan 2021-2025 and Legislative Appropriations for Fiscal Years 2022-2023.

    Mark Smith said the afternoon meeting ran long and asked the commission to review the agency’s mission and philosophy statements in preparation for the planning session for the next morning, February 21. He also shared the governor’s priorities most relevant to TSLAC and asked the commission to review for discussion in the planning session.

    Chairman Wong adjourned the meeting at 3:55 p.m.
