[Title, cont.] ... observada y delineada por Don Manuel Joseph de Cardenas aficionado a las Matematicas. Ano de 1691 Translation of title: (Cosmographic Plan of Lake of San Bernardo with the inlets and rivers which flow into it discovered by order of his Exellency Senor Conde Galve, Viceroy, Governor and Captain-General of New Spain. Observed and drawn by Don Manuel Joseph de Cardenas inaficinado of mathematics in the year 1691) Covers the Texas Gulf Coast, focusing on the Galveston Bay area, labeled as San Bernardo Bay on the map. Rivers leading into the Bay and a French settlement are shown. Map contains notes and is in Spanish. This is a tracing done by Elizabeth Howard West in 1912. Long. 291 - 292 deg. The original map is in the Archivo General de Indias, Sevilla, Espana, Mapas y Planos, Mexico, no. 89. Size of the original is 27 cm x 40 cm. 4/14/82
