I Need to Know Where to Get a Birth Certificate...

I Need to Get a Death Certificate Number...
Or birth...or marriage...or divorce. We are happy to search for single names in the Texas Vital Statistics indexes we have available. For additional details and a listing of the indexes we do have, please consult our Web page at http://www.tsl.texas.gov/arc/vitalfaq.html Due to the high volume of requests, we ask that you limit your request to 5 single names or years per search, which you may submit to Genealogy Information. Once we have responded to your request, you are welcome to submit another search.

I Need to Have all of the Information You Have on a Relative...
While the staff is unable to conduct genealogical searches for our patrons, we can refer them to a listing of private researchers familiar with our facility. The listing is available at http://www.tsl.texas.gov/arc/researchers.html

I Want to Know if an Individual Appeared in the Texas Census in...
We are happy to check our printed indexes for Texas for the years of 1850, 1860, 1870, 1880, and 1890. You may submit your request to Genealogy Information. Again, please limit your request to 5 names. Once we have responded to your request, you are welcome to submit another search.

I Need a Copy of a Page from the Census or Soundex...
While we are unable to provide copies, you may wish to contact one of the following resources for assistance:

  • The Interlibrary Loan Department of your public library.
  • Family History Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) in your area. Ask about their rental program. To locate the center nearest you, please visit the LDS Web site.

I Need a City Directory Search.
In the interest of preservation, no photocopies are made from the city directory collection held in Genealogy nor is staff available to transcribe information. However, the directories are available for both on-site and limited telephone use. Please call our reference desk at 512-463-5455 between the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. Upon request, staff will search for and read to you, if found, the entry for one name from one directory from one year. Staff will not read all entries for a specific surname. Due to high interest in the directories, we must further limit our patrons to one search request per day.

I Need to Know if You Have This Book...
The library's catalog is available online. If the item you are looking for was published prior to July 1976, it may or may not be found in our online catalog. Please contact us for assistance.
