Using "Explore Archive" in the Texas Digital Archive (TDA)

The “Explore Archive” option will display records in the Texas Digital Archive (TDA) in a format very similar to a file directory. To access this feature, click the EXPLORE ARCHIVE button on the left-hand side of the search toolbar (see Figure 1, below.)

Once the directory is displayed, you can use the sort options by clicking on the icons on the right-hand side, just above the results (see Figure 2, below.)

You can sort by Title, Type, or Description, and choose to view your results in List view or Table view. For more description of these icons, see our legend of icons used in the TDA. We recommend you try out both views and decide which best suits your needs. The TDA is set to List view by default but will often remember your last used setting. (Note: for smaller screen sizes, the view will automatically change to List view and you will not be able to toggle between view types.)

To continue exploring the archive, click on a thumbnail or title to enter that Collection and view its contents (see Figure 3, below.)

Continue clicking on the thumbnails of interest to you to enter those parts of the Collection. You will likely encounter several levels of folders before identifying a single record to display. Along the way, you may Refine Your Selection using the options provided on the left-hand side of the screen (see Figure 4, below.)
