Sandra Davidson and Rob Day
Our Employees of the Quarter for the Second Quarter of Fiscal Year 2003
Sandra Davidson - Sandra Davidson exemplifies customer service. As the genealogy assistant in the Genealogy Collection of Archives and Information Services, Sandra interacts with visitors on a daily basis. Her department receives approximately 800 monthly visitors, and Sandra consistently demonstrates outstanding performance of her duties. She is patient and friendly, and her genuine desire to help visitors is evident. Said one of Sandra's peers, "Calling her interactions with patrons polite would be an understatement, but this politeness has won her the friendship and respect of everyone she helps." Another of her peers commented that "Sandra's knowledge of the collection and of other sources of genealogical material allows her to be able to provide detailed assistance and referrals." Sandra also takes on new assignments with enthusiasm. For example, she has been spearheading a project to update the department's inventory of periodicals published by genealogical societies throughout Texas. Sandra carefully inventoried the collection, and has been working with numerous societies to obtain periodicals that were missing from the collection.
Sandra's commitment to customer service, and outstanding performance have earned her the respect and appreciation of her patrons and peers.
Rob Day - Rob Day has worked as the agency's web team leader since August 2001. In addition to his regular responsibilities of maintaining the agency's external Web site, guiding the web team, and managing the electronic mailing lists that the agency administers, Rob has taken on additional "special projects." Recently, Rob created an online reporting system for TSLAC's grant program, Loan Star Libraries. Despite being under major time constraints to get the initial system up and running, Rob was able to complete it in time. Said one staff member, "The success of online reporting for Loan Star Libraries was only achieved through Rob's undying attention to detail, patience and willingness to work extended hours to meet the deadline." By working closely with both agency staff as well as external librarians, Rob created a system that met everyone's needs. Additionally, Rob worked closely with the ARIS division to develop and execute a customer satisfaction survey. Rob provided the technical support for the project, and also shared his own ideas and thoughts concerning the survey.
Rob's willingness to take on challenging projects, his genuine desire to help, and his attention to detail have earned him the respect and appreciation of our staff, as well as our constituents.
Sandra and Rob were recognized at the Quarterly Awards Ceremony on Mar. 20, at 10:00 a.m., in the lobby of the de Zavala building. Peggy Rudd presented them each with a certificate of merit, and they were each awarded one day of administrative leave.
