Dear Sir

Nessity [Necessity] compels under the presant
sircumstanes to ask you the privalige
of raising a company of rangers for
the protectim of the citisons of Clay Co[.]
[H]ope is it may meet with your approvel
as the Indans in [is] very bad in allmost
all the Countys on the frounteer. [W]e are
looking for a strong out brake soon as
they ar thretning the hole frouneteer Countys[.].
I can give you a good recmandatin[.] I was a capt
in Thorhones Rigiment Fagans Brigade
from Arkansars [and] have moved to Clay Co
woshen [wishing] to live thar and I want protection[.]
