Account of Engagement with Comanche Indians, February 1875

Uvalde Feby 16th 1875

San Antonio Herald

Upon a recent visit
to Frio Cañon, situated in the
Northern portion of this County,
where Messrs Patterson: Watkins:
and Smith, have some six
hundred acres of well irrigated
land under cultivation, and
many more susceptible of
like improvements, (surrounded
by beautiful Mountains,) and
had the pleasure of meeting
Messrs Humphry: Green: Avant:
Patterson: Sawyer: Blackburn:
Goodman: and Wells, who
had just returned from
an "Indian Scout" of fifteen
days duration--

The Indians, came to Frio
Cañon on the 25th of January
1875, stealing five horses from
Sawyer & Shores; proceeded down
the Blanco
