a part of his duty to return the child, also
to restrain his tribe from depredations and
violence on the part of the whites; that I would write
for instructions in the case, when he promised
that he would take good care of the child,
until he should here from me.

The father of the child is a very poor
man and very Anxious that something
Should be done to restore it to him, as he is
fearful of its being Sold from tribe to tribe,
and finally lose it altogether
