Republic of Texas July 5th 1845  

His Excellency
Anson Jones
President etc etc.  

            The undersigned President
of the Convention assembled at this place in accor-
dance with the recommendation of your Excellency in
your Proclamation bearing date May 5th  1845—by order
of said Convention has the honor herewith to transmit
a properly certified copy of an Ordinance adopted
by the Convention on yesterday, July 4th 1845, with
the request that your Excellency cause to be transmit-
ted to his Excellency the President of the United
States of America a properly authenticated copy
of the same.
