The Killerean Family
Back to exhibit

Three generations of Texas women. Mrs. C. Killerean is seated in the center. Her daughter is on the right and her granddaughter on the left. Pioneer women in Texas spent their lives enduring hardship, isolation, epidemics, natural disasters, and Indian raids. Activism for women's suffrage in the East was a far cry from the lives of most women on the frontier.
Undated photo, W.D. Hornaday Collection, Prints and Photographs Collection, Texas State Library and Archives Commission. #1975/70-5443.
