Genealogy After Dark

Join the Texas State Library and Archives Commission's next Genealogy After Dark program.  Held in conjunction with the 15th annual lock-in of the Genealogy Center of the Waco-McLennan County Library System, research and reference materials will be available to registrants between 6:00 p.m. and 10:45 p.m.  Optional programming will be provided throughout the evening.

Time: 5:45 p.m. to 11 p.m.
Where: Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building (1201 Brazos Street)
Fee: $10, non-refundable

Evening Schedule

The evening schedule is:

  • 5:45 p.m. -- Sign-in / All reading rooms open for research / Optional programming will be offered throughout the evening
  • 7:00 p.m. -- Refreshments in Lobby
  • 10:45 p.m. -- Computers, microfilm and photocopy rooms close
  • 11:00 p.m. -- Building secured


Registration, limited to 30 participants, will close on Friday, October 9, 2015. To register, complete this form.  Submit it with a check payable to Friends of Libraries & Archives of Texas, P.O. Box 12983, Austin, TX 78711.

The evening of the event the Zavala Building will close at 5:00 p.m. and reopen at 5:45 p.m. for Genealogy After Dark program.  The building will be locked at 6:30 p.m. and no participants will be admitted after that time.


Metered spaces are available throughout the area.  Parking is also available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto, one block to the east of the Zavala Building.  There is often no charge for visitors who park in the garage after 5:00 p.m.  However, rates are subject to change during special events.  Visit this page for directions and parking information.
