The Texas State Library and Archives Commission, through a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, (TSLAC) is working to enhance partnerships between local libraries and adult education and literacy (AEL) providers. As part of this project, TSLAC will make grants available to libraries to purchase computer equipment that will enable them to expand services to adults seeking to improve literacy skills, including digital literacy, English language acquisition, basic education, family literacy, high school equivalency, workplace skills and training, and more.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission and Reach Out and Read-Texas, a program of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, share a mission of encouraging a love of books and reading and supporting preschool children in school readiness. A collaboration agreement has been formalized to encourage Texas public libraries and Reach Out and Read programs to work together to promote early literacy development. This collaboration agreement symbolizes the importance of expanding partnerships to enhance the early childhood learning opportunities for Texas children.
The Texas Center for the Book, a project of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission, reminds young readers that the deadlines to enter the 2016 Letters About Literature Contest are quickly approaching.
