   Austin, Texas    Texas to Receive Full Award of Federal Library Funds   

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission has won its appeal to keep its full allotment of federal funds awarded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Due to reductions in state funding in 2013, Texas was at risk of losing as much as $1.7 million in federal funds that is funneled to the state’s libraries through competitive grants, interlibrary loans, digital content and other statewide programs.

   Austin, TX    Peter Rogers, Artist of Iconic Texas Mural, to Speak at State Library and Archives   

Peter Rogers, the artist of “Texas Moves Toward Statehood,” a dramatic mural of Texas history that has been a fixture in the lobby of the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building for 50 years, will return to Austin for a public talk at the Zavala Building, Thursday, July 31, at 6 p.m.

   Austin, TX    Sam Houston Center Museum Renovation Planned   

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) has launched a multi-year plan to renovate the museum area at its Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center in Liberty, TX. This will be the first major renovation of the museum since the Center was opened in May 1977.

Accredited Texas public libraries that have completed and submitted the Edge assessment are eligible for up to $5,000 in reimbursements for the purchase of computer equipment and supplies that will help meet the public access technology needs of their community.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) invites K-12 public school districts throughout Texas to sign up for TexQuest, the agency’s new statewide database program providing high-quality digital research and information resources to the state’s more than 5 million public school students attending nearly 9000 schools.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission invites you to learn how to manage your personal records to be more organized, have less clutter, and be prepared for unexpected events. Records management expert Kim Scofield will teach you what you need to know about maintaining your records, what to get rid of, and what to have handy in case of an emergency.

   Austin, TX    TSLAC Announces Fee Decrease, New System for Storage of State Records in FY2015   

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission has approved the fees associated with storing non-current state records at the agency’s State Records Center in Austin. Effective September 1, 2014, the fees apply to state and local government agencies that choose to take advantage of the Center’s various, cost-effective storage services.

The Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) is marking the 50th anniversary of its historical lobby mural with an exhibit of unique items illustrating Texas’ dramatic journey from European province to American state.

   Austin, TX    TSLAC Invites Poetry Fans to Hangout on Google Plus   

In a first for the agency, the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC) will broadcast a live video chat via Google+ Hangouts with State Librarian Mark Smith and seven guests. The public broadcast will take place online Thursday, April 17, 1-2pm CST.
