Performs routine (journey-level) administrative support work. The Administrative Assistant provides a broad range of administrative support services for the Library Development/Networking Division and its programs. The position supports the Resource Sharing workgroup, the Office Services Coordinator and assists the other division program managers with a variety of projects. The position requires the ability to manage multiple projects, meet tight deadlines, maintain a high level of accuracy and customer service, and demonstrate effective organizational skills. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.


Provides administrative support for the Library Development and Networking Divisi.
Assists the Resource Sharing workgroup with the TexShare and TexQuest programs.
Assists division program managers with program management.
Assists LDN staff with travel arrangements and reimbursements.
Maintains division files, and assists with division records management.Assists Office Services Coordinator with routine purchasing
Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies.
Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct.


Perform other duties as assigned.


High school graduation or GED
2 years experience in administrative assistant work, including operation of Windows-based workstations
2 years work experience using Microsoft Office products to produce documents, spreadsheets, mail merges, and/or derive information from databases

Ability to compose business correspondence.
Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively with the public and agency staff both in writing and conversation.
Ability to work collaboratively and collegially on a team.
Demonstrated knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, and composition.
Ability to organize work in efficient and effective manner.
Ability to perform data entry and data checking on large data sets with minimal errors.
Familiarity with common office equipment and their operation, including multi-line phone, printers, copiers, and fax machines, laptop computers and projectors.


6 hours of college credit in basic English composition/grammar
6 hours in elementary statistics, mathematics, and/or computer science.Additional college courses, relevant work experience, or certifications in administrative assistance, business management, computer science, accounting, or related topics.
Experience with Access databases.
Experience assisting with large programs.
Work experience in a Texas state agency.
Experience with State of Texas Purchasing.


Submit college transcripts and certificates of training, if applicable.
Ability to lift and move items up to 30 lbs.


This position does not supervise any staff or temporary staff. Supervised by Division Director and Team Leader.
