JOB SUMMARY:

The Drupal programmer analyst is responsible for all aspects of Drupal content management system (CMS) development. This analyst develops new applications/modules, ports existing PHP applications into Drupal, performs security assessments, and leads efforts in Drupal upgrades. Required theme design will include a shift towards increased mobile responsiveness. Also, this developer works with the Linux systems analyst and network operations staff to fine-tune the Drupal configuration. Work is accomplished under the general guidance of the Lead Programmer Analyst or in coordination with the other application developers.

ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS:

Designs and develops software to fulfill technical and functional requirements.
Performs systems analysis tasks to develop detailed analyses, plans, and diagrams that identify, verify and document proposed automated tasks and systems.
Trains developers and other staff in Drupal best practices.
Performs consultation tasks with other developers, system users, and network operations staff to assist in defining and resolving application-related problems.
Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies; and complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures including safety and standards of conduct.

NON-ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS

Performs other tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Four year degree from an accredited university OR two years of college level coursework PLUS two years of job-related experience may be substituted for education on a year-to-year basis.

PLUS:

Three (3) years experience performing complex systems analysis.

Two (2) years experience using PHP programming language and the LAMP architecture to develop and maintain applications. This experience must include the design and development of websites using an open source content management system such as Drupal or Joomla, and the design and development of RDBMS applications.

Three (3) years experience using JavaScript, HTML, and CSS in accordance with current web standards and guidelines.

PLUS:

- General and specific knowledge of systems analysis concepts and techniques, system life cycle development concepts, computer programming concepts, and development environment procedures.
- Working knowledge of computer equipment and operating systems.
- Ability to recognize and analyze problems, and provide effective solutions.
- Ability to design data structures and relational databases.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and documentation standards.
- Ability to speak and write well-organized and grammatically correct English.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively with others.
- Ability to meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university in computer science, with an emphasis in computer programming.
- Experience in development, installation, make ready, and/or administration of a library application.
- Experience in applications development in C++, Perl, or Java.
- Experience in design and development of Drupal themes and modules.
- Experience in conducting training for developers in CMS or programming tools.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

- Complete copy of college transcripts and /or certifications.
- Overtime work is sometimes required.

SUPERVISION:

No supervisory responsibilities.
Reports to Team Leader of Applications Development.
