Applicant must submit an additional supplemental data sheet from the Texas State Library in order to be considered for the position.


This position handles data entry of applications and book orders using a customized software program, mail distribution, physical processing work and, general office support duties for the Talking Book Program.


Performs extensive data entry tasks
Performs general all-staffing tasks, such as processing weekly timesheets for division staff and updating staffing database
Processes paperwork for new patrons, including application requests and welcome packet information
Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail and processes outgoing mail for the division
Provides clerical assistance to the Public Awareness Office
Processes completed digital books for the Audio Production Services department
Performs other duties as assigned
Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies
Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety, dress code, and standards of conduct


High school diploma or GED
Clerical or clerking experience
Work experience using word processing and data-entry programs, OR a Certificate of Completion in word processing or data entry programs
Demonstrated knowledge of correct grammar, spelling, and composition

Ability to multi-task
Ability to handle pressure situations and meet deadlines
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to maintain a high level of staff service with good organizational skills
Ability to perform tasks accurately with frequent interruption
Ability to detect and resolve errors prior, during, and after data entry
Ability to pay attention to detail and complete projects requiring considerable accuracy
Ability to sit at computer work station for long periods and accurately perform repetitious, tedious tasks



Six-months clerical or clerking experience
One-year data-entry work experience
Experience in a service-oriented work environment
Experience with office equipment, such as copy machines and printers
College level courses in English grammar or composition and basic math
Experience using Microsoft Office and/or any File-based software (Filemaker Pro, Access, etc)on a microcomputer.
Ten Key by sight or touch


Must pass 10-key test.
Typing test required.
Transcripts/Certificate of Completion required if claiming college/program courses.
Requires some lifting, pushing, and carrying of items up to 60 lbs.


This position works under the team leadership of the Office Services Coordinator.
This position does not supervise any staff.
