Applicant must submit an additional supplemental data sheet from the Texas State Library in order to be considered for the position.

SUMMARY:

Welcomes patrons and visitors to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission. Serves as the first point of contact for patrons and visitors. Works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

 

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Welcomes patrons and visitors and directs them to the appropriate office according to their interest and request
Reviews registration status of patrons wishing to use materials in the Texas State Archives
Answers basic directional questions
Issues visitor badges
Serves as a visual observer for unusual activity
Complies with all applicable agency policies and procedures, including safety and standards of conduct
Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave and attendance policies
Performs other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from HS or GED
One year experience in a customer service position
Experience explaining policies and procedures to the public
Experience using a computer

Ability to convey accurate and clear information
Personal appearance suitable for meeting and dealing with agency visitors
Ability to work with minimum supervision
Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationship with others

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience as a lobby receptionist
Experience working in a library or archives
Bilingual English/Spanish
Experience using Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and Outlook

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Criminal history check

SUPERVISION:

Reports to Assistant Director, Information Services
No supervisory responsibility.
