Storytime Collaboration Events are Here!

Storytimes are at the very heart of library services and provide children with some of their first experiences with stories, songs, rhymes and group play. By implementing a few simple early literacy strategies in your storytimes, you become a cornerstone in children’s literacy development. Whether you’re new to storytimes or a seasoned provider, the free online Supercharged Storytimes course can help you take it to the next level. The course is completely self-paced and encourages learners to take time to reflect on current practices and the creative ways you choose to embed new skills into your storytimes.

In early January, over 200 Texas librarians embarked on a journey to complete the Supercharged Storytimes course together. The facilitated course ran from January to March and included live discussions and an opportunity for participants to connect and share successes and challenges with other storytime practitioners across the state.

This fall, we plan to take Supercharged Storytimes one step further by offering some fun, interactive events around the state to positively reinforce the key components of the Supercharged Storytimes curriculum while providing an opportunity for engagement and learning. These events will focus less on traditional instruction and more on active collaboration with peers.

A Supercharged Storytimes collaboration event will provide participants:

  • A chance to share storytime resources and ideas with peers
  • An opportunity to collaborate on hands-on projects
  • An opportunity to watch and participate in live storytime demonstrations
  • The tools needed to give and receive constructive feedback.

You do not have to have completed the Supercharged Storytimes course to attend this event. All are welcome to participate so bring yourself and your colleagues and let’s work together to Supercharge our storytimes!
