Need to expand a program to meet the demand in your community? Want to implement a best practice that will improve service delivery to your patrons? Want to try out a new idea for serving your community? Consider applying for a grant through one of the five competitive grant programs available from the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).

The application cycle is now open for FY 2015 grants, which will run September 1, 2014—August 31, 2015. TSLAC will make available approximately $1.75 million to support eligible library programs and services through its Impact, Library Cooperation, Special Projects, Texas Reads, and TexTreasures grant programs. The grants are made possible through the federal Grants to States Program from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 7, 2014; grants will be awarded in August 2014.

Potential projects can include, but are not limited to, business and workforce development, digital literacy, family and early childhood literacy, e-content access and delivery, shared/cooperative services between libraries and other entities, roving reference, mobile applications, cataloging and digitization of unique collections, reading, or English as a Second Language classes. Except as provided in the specific program guidelines, the grants may fund staff, equipment, supplies, library materials, and professional services. The purpose of the grants is not for general collection development.

Potential applicants are invited to attend two upcoming webinars on the 2015 grants:
