New! United for Libraries Resources Now Available to Texas Public Libraries

2014 August 7

united for librariesTexas public libraries, you now have the resources and training of United for Libraries  at your fingertips! The Texas State Library & Archives Commission, supported by a grant from the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services, has purchased a statewide group membership for the association. The training and learning resources are for Texas public libraries who have advisory or trustee boards, Foundations and/or Friends groups, and are designed to develop the knowledge and skills of library support groups to strengthen local library service.

Public library directors have been sent their Texas web page access, and login information for the Texas United for Libraries “group members only” sections today. As well as receiving regular newsletters on topics of interest to library supporting groups, libraries statewide also have access to:

  • Trustee Academy – a series of online courses for trustees and advisory board members.
  • Engaging Today’s Volunteers for Libraries and Friends – a three-part series of webcasts about the new generation of volunteers– how they are different from volunteers of the past, what they want from service opportunities, and how libraries and Friends can attract them.
  • Friends & Foundations Zone – members-only access to toolkits, current and past issues of The Voice newsletter, publications, webinars, special offers, and more.
  • Trustee Zone – members-only access for advisory boards and trustees, with access to toolkits, current and past issues of The Voice newsletter, publications, practical guides, webinars, special offers, and more.
