Register Now for Small Library Management Springtime Workshops

small library management program logoWorking in a public library and ready to tackle 2015 with enhanced leadership and management skills?  Then register now for the Small Library Management Training Program (SLM) Spring, 3-day, in-person Management and Leadership Essentials workshops, being held in a town near you.

The SLM program, now in its 20th year, is an ongoing educational program from the State Library that is designed to provide management and foundational library skills training for community library managers and staff. Join expert presenters Dr. Julie Todaro and Arta Kabashi to explore core library leadership, management, and budgeting topics, and to get some great tips and tricks for handling common policy, planning and personnel issues.

The Management and Leadership Essentials workshop sessions are free, and you will also receive a free set of books on management (one set per library location) that can be added to your local professional library collection.

Travel Funding

In need of some funding assistance for travel to an SLM workshop?  The Tocker Foundation offers travel stipends for eligible librarians to attend the Small Library Management Training Program. To qualify, your library must be in a town with a population of 12,000 or less and be located at least 80 miles from the nearest workshop location. See the Librarian Travel Stipends section on their site to apply or go directly to the application form. Please make sure to apply at least 2 weeks before the workshop.
