The deadline for applications for the Texas State Library and Archives Commission’s 2016 competitive grant programs has been extended to Wednesday, March 11, 2015.

Interested Texas libraries may submit an application in any of the five available grant programs — Texas Reads, Impact, TexTreasures, Library Cooperation, and Special Projects. The grants are made possible through the federal Grants to States Program from the Institute of Museum and Library Services through the Library Services and Technology Act. The deadline to apply has been extended to Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Grants will be awarded in August 2015.

Potential projects can include, but are not limited to, business and workforce development, digital literacy, family and early childhood literacy, e-content access and delivery, shared/cooperative services between libraries and other entities, roving reference, mobile applications, cataloging and digitization of unique collections, reading, or English as a Second Language classes. Except as provided in the specific program guidelines, the grants may fund staff, equipment, supplies, library materials, professional services, and indirect costs. The purpose of the grants is not for general collection development.

Grant guidelines are available at https://www.tsl.texas.gov/ld/funding/index.html. For guidance on which grant program may best suit your proposed project, contact Erica McCormick at emccormick@tsl.texas.gov or (512) 463-5527.
