State Librarian Urges Participation in Statewide Public Library Speed Test

2016 April 26

We’re nearing the end of our testing period for the first ever Texas Public Library Speed Test! We’ve reached 75% of Texas public libraries and want to thank you if you have already participated!  We are hoping to have 100% of Texas public libraries take part.  If you have not yet run the test at your library, please help us reach our goal!

This snapshot of Internet speeds across the state will benefit the entire Texas library community and help us as we work to ensure that every Texan has the Internet access they need. Even if you are satisfied with your speed, your response will be incredibly helpful.

Mark Smith, the State Librarian and Director, has this to say about the test:

“I strongly urge every library in Texas to do the speed test. It is quick and easy and it will really help us make the case for high-speed Internet in every library in Texas.”

It only takes a couple of minutes and the results are automatically sent to us.  Need the link to the test?  Just email Henry Stokes at hstokes@tsl.texas.gov for the invitation.
