The Texas State Library is excited to announce that additional early literacy workshops will be presented by nationally-acclaimed author and presenter, Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen. This is a continuation of the very popular series presented by Diamant-Cohen in eight Texas cities last Fall and Spring. Workshops have been added in Northeast Texas and in the Houston area where there were waiting lists, and we are happy to bring the workshop to librarians in South Texas.

Dr. Betsy Diamant-Cohen has been a children’s librarian for more than 25 years and has Betsyworked in public libraries, school libraries, academic libraries, non-profit libraries, children’s museums, preschools, home daycares and more. Her wealth of personal experience combined with a thirst for knowledge and a passion for giving all children equal chances to be successful led to the development of the Mother Goose on the Loose early literacy program, the publication of several books, and the production of a few CDs. Diamant-Cohen was named a “Mover and Shaker” by Library Journal in 2004 and completed her doctorate in 2006. Betsy has been giving training workshops around the country ever since.

Participants will learn to present storytimes that repeat a single book for six weeks, paired with unique and playful activities designed to help children acquire skills in all developmental domains.

The 1-day workshops are FREE to library staff and participants are eligible for Continuing Education credit of 6.5 hours. The workshops will be held in the following locations.
