Upcoming Workshop Series: STEAM in Preschool Storytime

The Texas State Library is excited to announce that registration is open for a new early ChildScientistliteracy workshop series, STEAM in Preschool Storytime! Join us for an inspiring workshop by popular presenter, Kim Lehman.  Following an introduction to research on STEAM learning in the preschool years and to the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines Math and Science Skills Domains, Kim will engage participants in fun, hands-on STEAM activities, literature, fingerplays, and songs to enhance Preschool Storytime and prepare young children for success in school.

The workshop is for librarians and youth services staff who work with young children and their caregivers.

Friday, Oct. 14:  George Memorial Library, Richmond

Monday, Oct. 24:  Ben F. McDonald Public Library, Corpus Christi

Friday, Oct. 28:  Clara B. Mounce Public Library, Bryan

Monday, Oct. 31:  Clardy Fox Library, El Paso

Tuesday, Nov. 15:  South Irving Library, Irving

Wednesday, Nov. 16:  Mount Pleasant Public Library

Wednesday, Nov. 30:  Centennial Library, Midland

Hope you can join us!  Additional workshops will be held in the Spring of 2017 and dates and locations will be announced.

Continuing Education Credit

This 1-day workshop is FREE to library staff and participants are eligible for Continuing Education credit of 6.5 hours.  SBEC-eligible (provider #500799)

About the Presenter

KimKim Lehman has 30 years of experience working with children in public libraries, schools, child care centers, and museums. As a former youth services specialist for the Austin Public Library and Connecting Texas Libraries Statewide, Kim has presented many storytimes and science based programs in library settings. Currently Kim is a certified early childhood educator and a professional musician and storyteller on the Texas Commission on the Arts Touring Roster presenting both art and science programs for all ages
