Leadership & Management Essentials: Emergency Management

2016 November 1

The focus of this year’s Small Library Management: Leadership & Management Essentials workshop is emergency management. Participants are guided through the leadership, personnel management, and financial management aspects of a natural disaster.

Here’s an excerpt from the workshop manual:

She grabbed her emergency kit and drove the 12 miles to the library, afraid of what she would find.

Upon arriving, she had a hard time getting through the parking lot’s overflowing curbs to the staff door and was alarmed when the emergency light was the only light that came on when she opened the library’s back door.

Realizing the library was not going to open as usual, she texted her assistant, grabbed the flashlight from her emergency kit, changed into her rubber-soled shoes and walked into the library.

Here are some comments we’ve received from our first few workshops:

I feel empowered – knowledge gives you confidence.

This workshop had very valuable information on everything I need to know as a new library director!

You can tell how passionate Dr. Todaro is about her work and her ability to empower us as better managers.

Thank you to all our workshop participants in Temple, Lubbock, Amarillo, and Denton!
