It’s Time to Submit the Texas Public Libraries Annual Report!

2018 March 21
by Valicia Greenwood

It’s Spring again, so that means it is time for Texas public library directors to get out all of the library statistics collected over the last local fiscal year and enter them into Texas LibPAS!  This report is due no later than Monday, April 30, 2018, a deadline which cannot be extended.

Information that is collected is sent to the Institute of Museum & Library Services (IMLS), as part of the national conversation on the status and value of libraries.  The vetted data is published and made available to library stakeholders and policymakers. This information helps in decision-making processes that support the present and future of all public libraries.

In Texas, we use this information to accredit public libraries.  Accredited libraries have access to the TexShare card and TexShare databases programs, the agency’s competitive grant and other funding opportunities; statewide interlibrary loan, and E-rate, the federal telecommunications discount program.  Reporting libraries are also eligible to order materials at no cost for Summer Reading Programs, through the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP).

Instructions, tips, tools and explanations about the Annual Report are available at this webpage:

Log-in information was emailed to public library directors in early January.  If there has been a change in leadership at your library, or if the information is no longer available, contact Library Statistics Specialist Valicia Greenwood ( or Program Coordinator Stacey Malek ( for those credentials, or any other information or assistance you may need.
