The Resolution on the Administration for Children and Families Library Initiative

WHEREAS, the Department of Heath & Human Services, Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Regional Office VI is promoting an ACF Library Initiative in the State of Texas; and

WHEREAS, the ACF Library Initiative's primary goal is to give Head Start children and families exposure to imagination-stirring, thought-provoking books as motivation for further learning; and

WHEREAS, the ACF Library Initiative's major activities to accomplish this effort are (1) to support Head Start grantees in assisting children and their families to secure library cards, and (2) to assist Head Start children and their families to learn to access services and resources provided by community libraries; and

WHEREAS, the Administration for Children and Families, the Texas Head Start Association and the Texas State Library and Archives Commission have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to encourage and facilitate the implementation of the ACF Library Project between Head Start grantees and their community libraries within the State of Texas; now, therefore, be it resolved that the TEXAS LIBRARY ASSOCIATION on behalf of the Public Library Division and the Children's Round Table, supports the ACF Library Initiative and encourages all Texas libraries to take part in htis worthwhile project.
