Estela and Raúl Mora Award

REFORMA, the National Association to Promote Library Service to the Spanish-speaking and Latinos, is pleased to announce the establishment of the Estela and Ra�l Mora Award. Donated by poet Pat Mora and her siblings in honor of their parents, the award has been established to promote celebrations of El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros. The award consists of a $500 plus a plaque to be donated by the Mora grandchildren and will be awarded annually to the school, library, or REFORMA chapter that sponsored an exemplary celebration for El Día de los Niños/ El Día de los Libros.

El Día de los Niños/El Día de los Libros was established in 1997 to promote literacy, reading, and books for children of all linguistic and cultural backgrounds. Deadline for the application for programs which took place during 2001 is June 30, 2001 with the winners to be notified by August 30, 2001. The winning program will be announced in July.
