Instructions for Downloading and Copying Clip Art

To download a copy of a clip art image onto your hard drive:

  • Go to www.tsl.texas.gov/ld/projects/trc/2006/clipart/index.html.
  • Click on a thumbnail of a clip art image to enlarge it in your browser.
  • Click on “File” and “Save As” and save the clip art image to your desktop or to a file on your hard drive.
  • The clip art image is now downloaded onto your hard drive.

To insert a clip art image into a document using a PC or a MacIntosh:

  • Open a document.
  • Click on “Insert”.
  • Click on “Picture”.
  • Click on “From File”.
  • Click on your downloaded copy of the clip art image. The clip art image will be inserted.
  • Position the clip art image in your document. (If using a PC, left click your mouse and the handles for resizing the clip art will appear.)
  • Enlarge or reduce the size of the image.
  • Add text, or print it.

To copy a clip art image into a Word Document using a PC:

  • Open a Word document.
  • Click on “Insert".
  • Go to www.tsl.texas.gov/ld/projects/trc/2006/clipart/index.html.
  • Click on a thumbnail of a clip art image to enlarge it in your browser.
  • Right click your mouse on the enlarged clip art image and highlight “Copy”. (Or use a shortcut: “Control A” to select all, and “Control C” to copy.)
  • Go to your Word document.
  • Right click your mouse and highlight “Paste” to insert the clip art into your Word document. (Or use a shortcut: “Control V” to copy.)
  • Left click your mouse and the handles for resizing the clip art will appear. Enlarge or reduce the size of the clip art.
  • Position the clip art image on your page.
  • Add text, or print it.

Notes:

  • The clip art lines will become thinner as you decrease the size and the image will appear lighter.
  • If you copy a thumbnail image, the quality of the clip art image will decrease significantly.
