Fingerplays

Red Balloon

(Traditional)

I had a little red balloon,
But then I blew and blew
Till it became all big and fat
And grew and grew and grew.
I tossed it up into the air
And never let it drop
I bounced it on the ground, until
It suddenly went pop!

Songs

Hokey Pokey

(Traditional)

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out;
You put your right foot in,
And you shake it all about.

Chorus

You do the Hokey-Pokey,
And you turn yourself around.
That's what it's all about!

Verses

  1. You put your left foot in, you put your left foot out…
  2. You put your right hand in, you put your right hand out…
  3. You put your left hand in, you put your left hand out…
  4. You put your nose in, you put your nose out…
  5. You put your head in, you put your head out…
  6. You put your whole self in, you put your whole self out…

Dance and Movement Songs

Bailando en la biblioteca

(by Johana Resendez and Priscilla Celina Suarez)

Pongo mi mano derecha en el aire
y mi mano izquierda sobre mi cadera
cuando muevo un poco mis caderas.

Doy salto de un lado a otro
y doy vuelta,
una y otra vez.

Palmeo mis manos
y canto una melodía silenciosa
antes de que toqué mi guitarra de aire,
pero silenciosamente
como aquí estamos bailando en la biblioteca.

Dancing in the Library

(by Priscilla Celina Suarez)

I put my right hand up in the air
and my left hand on my hip
as I shake my hips a bit.

I jump from side to side
and turn myself around,
around, and around.

I do a silent clap
and sing a silent tune
before I play my air guitar,
but silently
as here we are dancing in the library.

Action Rhymes

Es nuestra fiesta

(by Johana Resendez and Priscilla Celina Suarez)

Es nuestra fiesta
aquí en la biblioteca
donde los libros son variados
y sonrisas son gratuitos.
Es nuestra fiesta
aquí en la biblioteca
donde abrazos de oso son grandes
y la lectura es enorme.

Es nuestra fiesta
aquí en la biblioteca
donde leo varios libros
y libros son infinitas.

It’s Our Party

(by Johana Resendez and Priscilla Celina Suarez)

It’s our party
here at the library
where books are aplenty
and smiles are free.

It’s our party
here at the library
where bear hugs are big
and reading is huge.

It’s our party
here at the library
where I read books a-many
and where books are aplenty.

Rhymes and Poetry

Celebrando la biblioteca

(by Johana Resendez and Priscilla C. Suarez)

Es tan divertido
en un mar de libros
donde los límites son infinitos
pero caben en mis manos.

Es tan divertido
cuando un viaje alrededor del mundo
puede tener lugar en esta sala
rodeada de mis amigos.

Por eso celebro
este lugar que puedo apreciar,
donde los cuentos se completan
y diversiones se convierten en otro cuento.

Library Celebration

(by Priscilla C. Suarez)

It is so fun
in a sea of books
where the limits are endless
but can fit in my hands.

It is so fun
when a trip around the world
can take place in this room
surrounded by my friends.

That is why I celebrate
this place I can appreciate,
where stories come together
and fun times become another tale.
