Typical Uses for GIF and PDF artwork

The following formats have been provided in various sizes for each piece of available clip art. Should you need an image in a different size or format than what is provided, or if you have difficulty with an image, please contact our graphic artist for help.

Using a GIF file with transparent background:

The transparent background means that the file's background is invisible. When these files are placed 'on top' of other images and only the clip art figure will appear without being surrounded by a white box.

Typical uses for image files saved in the PDF format

The PDF files of Texas Reading Club clip art each contain two pages of drawings in several different sizes. Artwork saved in the portable document file (PDF) format is used:

  1. For printing onto paper using a printer for cutting/pasting onto publications
  2. By graphic arts professionals when high-resolution artwork is needed
  3. PDF files can also be easily attached to email messages for transport
