Meeting Information

The next ZIG meeting will be held January 19-21, 2000, in San Antonio, at the San Antonio Public Library. Host: Texas State Library and the Texas Z39.50 Implementors Group. The ZIG meeting and tutorial are open (subject to room capacity), all interested individuals are welcome, and there is no fee for attendance. However, if you plan to attend either, please register. General Information

Three days of ZIG events and meetings are scheduled:

Wednesday, January 19: The ZIG Tutorial and Briefings.

The ZIG Tutorial and Briefings will focus on current issues, tools, initiatives and projects related to Z39.50. Plan to attend to increase your awareness about Z39.50 topics. This one-day session will provide an opportunity to learn more about Z39.50 and its applications. There is no cost for the ZIG Tutorial and Briefings.

Unlike previous ZIG Tutorials, this one will not provide a basic introduction and overview to the standard. People interested in an intoduction to the standard should check out the NISO Standards Tutorial: An Introduction to Z39.50 that will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2000 in San Antonio <>.

Thursday, January 20: Z39.50 Working Groups and Break-out Sessions.

The agreement at the Stockholm ZIG meeting in August 1999 provides for one day of ZIG Working Groups and Break-out Sessions. The purpose is to provide formal or informal groups related to Z39.50 initiatives and activities to meet in conjunction with the ZIG.

Friday, January 21: The ZIG Plenary Meeting.

This will be the regular working meeting of the ZIG. The agenda is available at the Z39.50 Maintenance Agency site.

281 South to I-35 South (toward Laredo)

Stay on the right and take the Booklyn/McCullough exit

Drive two blocks and take a left onto McCullough

Drive about four blocks and turn right onto Augusta

Drive about five blocks

San Antonio Public Library should be on your right

Continue past the Library to Giraud Street

Turn right; then another quick right onto Soledad (one-way street)

Parking garage should be on your right

The San Antonio Public Library has been nicknamed the "Red Enchilada" -- you'll know it when you see it!
