Libraries and Literacy

Thanks to a grant from the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC), TSLAC is offering free workshops that will provide opportunities for libraries and adult education and literacy providers to connect and learn about digital literacy.

Attendees will receive the following:

  1. Free digital literacy toolkit, including Powerpoint presentations, lesson plans, student manuals, promotional materials, and more, originally developed by TSLAC in 2012 and revised in 2016 by a top-notch digital literacy trainer
  2. Three hours of training in using the toolkit
  3. An introduction to TRAIN PD @ TCALL, the state’s online professional development center for literacy providers, previously unavailable to the library community, now available for free
  4. Training in partnership development, focused on libraries and adult literacy providers

Small Library Management - Leadership & Management Essentials

Leadership and Management Essentials is a 3 day in-person workshop offered every two years.

  • Day 1 introduces the fundamentals of leadership, including communication skills and leading through change.
  • Day 2 focuses on personnel management, human resources, and policy development.
  • Day 3 covers financial management including budgeting, financial planning, and audit requirements.

STEAM in Preschool Storytime

Popular workshop presenter, Kim Lehman will engage participants in fun, hands-on STEAM activities, literature, fingerplays, and songs to enhance Preschool Storytime and prepare young children for success in school.

New TexShare Resources from Gale: Science in Context and LegalForms

Science In Context is an engaging online resource providing contextual information on hundreds of today's most significant science topics. We’ll examine how to find what you need (like science experiments) and show off user workflow tools like Google/Microsoft integration, citation generator, and more.

LegalForms provides a comprehensive look at various types of legal documents. It offers the most robust collection of accessible legal information available.
