Fleam, 1825-1860. Artifacts Collection, ATF0187. TSLAC. Fleam, pivoting and foldable, three blades. Stamped: Borwick Cast Steel. These bloodletting tools were used for veterinary purposes (most likely on horses) rather than used on humans. Borwick operated in Sheffield, England, from 1791 to 1860. "Cast Steel" was included in the stamp from 1825 onward.
