Do not imagine that you are "troubling me in this matter" as you say;
for a communication from you on this or any other subject will be ever sure
to give me pleasure. My present address is that given above, as I have
been home on sick leave since July & may be for some months.
I have, since you last heard from me, met with a fearful
blow, in the death of my only child, a grown up daughter, which occurred
on the 30th of March. As misfortunes seldom come alone, I was about
that time crippled by a wrench of the knee, which for over two months
reduced me to the use of crutches. Though now in a measure free
from lameness, I am sufficiently week & depressed to be excused from duty.
