be perfectly correct and I
would be sorry not to have your
great picture true in every detail.
I intend to write to my Aunt
in Georgia to day and ask her
what my fathers height was-
I know his eyes were dark blue,
large and beautiful-his hair
nearly black-and the picture
that is lost represented him
as bright and animated
altogether different from any other
I have seen of him-and as it
was taken just after the battle of
San Jacinto it must have been a
true likeness.
I am indeed distressed to
tell you that I have no picture
of my mother-except one
