The seven-member Texas State Library and Archives Commission has selected three finalists for the position of Director and Librarian. On August 29, 2013, the commission will hold a public meeting and reception to provide an opportunity for the public to meet the finalists.
The commission will meet in public session where each candidate will make a brief presentation. Prior to the formal presentations, the agency invites its customers and constituents to a public reception to meet the finalists.
The reception will be from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the lobby of the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building, 1201 Brazos Street, Austin, Texas 78701. Candidate presentations will begin at 4:30 p.m. Public parking is available in the Capitol Visitors’ Parking Garage at 1201 San Jacinto.
“The commission hopes interested parties will attend the reception and meet the three candidates for this important position," said TSLAC Chair Michael C. Waters of Dallas, Texas. He noted that the commission conducted a nationwide search for the position.
The commission will interview the three finalists in Executive Session on August 30 and expects to convene a public meeting at 2 p.m. to take possible action based on the formal interviews.
