Assistant State Librarian Gloria Meraz speaks at Texas State’s University Libraries Alkek Library Open House event on Thursday, Sept. 2, 2021.
The Alkek Library Open House is a celebration of the completion of three major renovation projects: the Library Learning Commons (floors 1-4); new Wittliff Collections Galleries (Music, Treasures, Edward Curtis & Lonesome Dove); and the installation of 82 feet of Buck Winn’s original 280-foot mural, The History of Ranching, on the library’s main floor. These projects were completed just before the pandemic hit and this is the first chance they have had to show them off in a public manner. The celebration also welcomes the new Associate Vice President and University Librarian Dr. Kelly Visnak.
