On June 22, 2010, Michael Reagor traveled to College Station, Texas to present a training class on Managing Electronic Records to the Texas A&M University System. Michael, a 2002 graduate from Texas A&M University, got his start in records management as a student worker for the University Records Management department.

Meg Carpenter, University Records Manager, and R. Brooks Moore, Records Management Officer for the University System, graciously agreed to host the training class and handle the registration for over one hundred system and university employees on site as well as teleconferencing for one hundred other employees at eight system campuses across the state.

The three-hour class on electronic records was well received and the students were attentive and inquisitive with questions coming from as far away as West Texas A&M (Canyon, TX) and covering topics ranging from the relative merits of PDFs vs. TIFs for digital imaging to how to classify an email exchange that is the basis for creating a contract.

Although he seemed to spend the entire day running behind, Michael was still able to get a tour of the new (since he graduated) University Records Center and meet some of the great records management staff.

Analysts are available to provide training in regions across Texas for groups of 50 or more. If you would like to host a regional training event in your area, please contact us at (512) 421-7200 or slrminfo@tsl.texas.gov. Be sure to visit our website for a list of upcoming training.
