Farewell to Erinn

By Angela Ossar, Government Information Analyst

Yesterday we bid farewell to an integral part of the State and Local Records Management Division, Erinn Barefield.

Erinn joins the Archives and Information Services Division today, becoming our new agency records manager. Working under State Archivist Jelain Chubb in downtown Austin, Erinn will be responsible for coordinating records management operations for the entire agency. Having worked since October 2008 as a Government Information Analyst and for the State Library since January 2008, Erinn brings a wealth of knowledge of government records management to her new position.

As an analyst, Erinn had a hand in numerous projects. She contributed many long hours to researching and revising the local retention schedules, wrote the online Improving Filing Systems course (currently undergoing final staff review), coordinated a major imaging project and audit of our local government databases, wrote and will conduct our popular new Tips for a Successful Imaging Project webinar, and revised the State Records Management Manual (to be posted on our website later this month). Erinn also provided consulting services to 32 state agencies as well as the counties of Harris, Fort Bend, Brazoria, Galveston, Chambers, Jefferson, Orange, Liberty, and Montgomery. In this capacity, she coordinated our successful regional training event in Baytown last June.

Although we know that Erinn will serve our agency well in her new position, we are terribly sad to see her go. Best of luck, Erinn!
