Beginning in early June, the State and Local Records Management division will be conducting the biennial customer service surveys.
The surveys will have a combination of questions to gather information from state agencies or local governments about a combination of our three units: Records Management Assistance, Records Center Services, and Microfilming Services.
Records Management Assistance: This unit provides training and consulting to state agencies and local governments in Texas. They reach nearly 10,000 individuals and provide about 14,000 hours of service annually. The Government Information Analysts answer questions by email and by phone as well as review all state and local retention schedules for approval.
Records Center Services: This unit operates the State Records Center to store state agency records. They received, circulated, destroyed, and managed items for over 200,000 transactions last year. This service saves Texas government over $8.5 million monthly by storing inactive records in specially- designed, high-density space.
Microfilming Services: This unit provides: source document microfilming, microfilm duplication, and converts digital images to microfilm. Microfilm is a stable, long-term preservation media for records.
This year the surveys will be available electronically only. Please watch for emails and notifications on our website for when the surveys become available for your opportunity to provide feedback to us about these important services.
