Earlier this morning we published an article announcing that the Record Storage Standards would be taking effect on April 7, 2015. This article has caused some confusion and we would like to address those concerns.

The standards were officially published as administrative rules and published in the Texas Register on April 7, 2013. However, Section 7.162(d) of the standards states:

(d) The effective date of this subchapter shall be two years after the date of its adoption.

This section makes the effective date of the standards to be April 7, 2015.

No changes have been made to the standards since publication on April 7, 2013.
