The process of getting into and staying in compliance is fairly easy, so don’t worry! In this webinar, we’ll guide you through the steps to get into compliance quickly so that your office can adhere to the laws and manage records effectively.
There are three basic components to meeting the requirements in the Local Government Records Act:
- Have a policy approved by the governing body or elected official on file with the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).
- Designate a Records Management Officer (RMO) within the approved policy and provide contact information.
- Make a retention decision, such as adopting the TSLAC retention schedules, creating a custom retention schedule, or keeping all records permanently.
