Local Government Classes: Registration Open!

Local government classes will be held March 29-30, 2016. Each class is $15.

Classes are being held at the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building at 1201 Brazos Street (to the east of the Capitol).

  • Introduction to Records Management
    Tuesday, March 29, 8:30 AM-11:30 AM
    Learn why records management is important and required, what constitutes a record, how to ensure you are in compliance and how that benefits your organization, ways to ensure you have an active and continuing program, tips on outsourcing and valuable resources for you and your records management program.
  • Emergency Preparedness
    Tuesday, March 29, 1:00 PM-4:00 PM
    Learn how to identify, protect, and ensure access to your vital records, the records necessary to continue operations in the event of an emergency. The course will also cover how to prepare, respond to, and recover from a records emergency.
  • Managing Electronic Records – Full Day Workshop
    Wednesday, March 30, 8:30 AM-4:00 PM
    In this interactive workshop, you’ll learn how to apply records management principles to electronic records through face-to-face instruction and hands-on activities. This course explores four critical elements of electronic records management for Texas local government records managers: legal requirements, records retention, information retrieval, and long-term preservation.

  1. Are there going to be anymore classes scheduled in the near future? The one’s I see for registration are past classes from 2015 or from March of this year. I was recently made the RMO for our entity and it was requested for me to take some classes for training. I have already done all of the online webinars.
