Retired California State Senator is Using AI to Transcribe Local Government Hearings for Search and Alerts – Boing Boing
One former government official is finding a way to cut through the digital data melee to make public records truly public and accessible. A collaboration between a group of Cal Poly students and Sam Blakeslee created Digital Democracy, an automated service that will collect local government hearings and meetings and then use machine-learning systems to generate transcripts of the conversations and events.
Digital Democracy even implements facial recognition software to correctly attribute comments to the politicians who uttered them.
