Celebrations in October

Texas Archives Month

By order of the Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, October is officially now Archives Month. In October 2017, Texas will join archival repositories across the nation to celebrate Archives Month and promote the preservation of our country’s documentary heritage. Archives Month in Texas aims to celebrate the value of Texas’ historical records, to publicize the many ways these records enrich our lives, to recognize those who maintain our communities’ historical records, and to increase public awareness of the importance of preserving historical treasures and making them available for use by present and future generations.

Electronic Records Day 10.10.2017

The Council of State Archivists’ annual Electronic Records Day raises awareness about the crucial need to manage and preserve government electronic records. Electronic Records Day is part of CoSA’s State Electronic Records Initiative (SERI).

For Electronic Records Day this year join the Council of State Archivists in a webinar that asks “What about the records?” Topics will include evaluating information systems before they are purchased and how to deal with existing systems that already hold record content.

Visit the CoSA website for more information and to register for their webinar: https://www.statearchivists.org/programs/state-electronic-records-initiative/electronic-records-day/
