We are accepting public comment on proposed revisions to Local Schedules CC, DC, LC, and PS, concerning juvenile records. The proposed amendments include revisions necessary to keep the schedule up-to-date with current laws and administrative rules, and to improve retention of public records. Specifically, House Bill 2398, 84th Legislative Session, revised court jurisdiction and procedures relating to truancy and Senate Bill 1304, 85th Legislative Session, revised Chapter 58 of Texas Family Code. This legislation requires revised retention requirements for juvenile records.
Please note other sections of the schedules are not being revised at this time; only revisions to sections relating to retention of juvenile records are being proposed.
The proposed revisions were published in the December 14 issue of the Texas Register. The copy of the schedules posted in the Texas Register are clean versions and does not show all revisions. To aid in your review, you can view a marked up version of each schedule on our website.
If you have comments on the proposed changes to Local Schedule CC, DC, LC, or PS, you can submit them to Sarah Jacobson, Manager, Records Management Assistance, Box 12927, Austin, Texas 78711; by fax to (512) 936-2306; or by email to sjacobson@tsl.texas.gov. Public comments are due by close of business on Monday, January 14, 2019.
Any comments received will be presented to our Commission at a future meeting. We appreciate your assistance in ensuring that our local retention schedules are accurate, fair, and useful for the local governments we serve.
